Planet coaster free form not working8/29/2023 ![]() The amusement park simulator game from Frontier Developments was born on PC back in 2016 and is now available on consoles for the first time. Planet Coaster: Console Edition does its absolute darndest, and nearly succeeds. Here's the right way to do the station above.Console ports of sims are difficult. You should have station blocking on (unless you are using a dual station that can handle two trains, one for exiting, one for entering) and be using block brake runs leading up to the stations to stack extra trains. This is bad, ugly, and will get coaster freaks like me very angry with you. It just means that the station holds multiple trains. Note: Station blocking CAN BE OFF with blocking on. The trick here is that I block sectioning turned off so that the trains can all be released onto that track at the same time and can be in the station at the same time. THis is obviously exaggerated, but this station can handle 3 trains. The only situation in which you would use an unblocked station is when you have a very long station AND you aren't using blocking. When you use Block Brakes, make sure that they are at a high point in your coaster and that the train is able to complete the run after exiting the block brakes, otherwise the block will never clear.Ĭool, with that out of the way, let's address station blocking.Ī blocked station essentially means that only one train can be in it at a time - just like a block - and that the block ahead of the station can be occupied but waiting - that's why the train in image 2 is waiting at those block brakes until the station is open. This doesn't work the best because sometimes blocks are long and slow to advance so you should test with different numbers of trains. If you use block sectioning, PC autotamically limits the number of trains that you can use to the number of blocks -2 so that there is always room for a train to advance to the next block. Image 3: If I prevent the train from moving to the next block, the lift will hold the train because there is already a train occupying the next block. Image 2: As you can see, as soon as the station block is clear, the block brakes release the second train and it moves into the station. The block brakes are holding that train until the station block is clear for it to go into. The lift acts as a block because the train can be stopped at the top and the same goes for the station because I have station blocking off. Only one train can be in the station, only one on the lift, only one on that first section of track (before it hits the block brakes) and only one on that second section of track (before it hits the station). Image 1: This coaster has 3 (+ a station block), each demarked by a different color. ![]() Note: In this example, I have station blocking ON (the checkbox is unticked) Osrry about the white outlining, just how it has to be. ![]() I've set up an example in PC for illustration purposes. These sets of brakes may stop and hold the train until the next block is clear to release - thus preventing the trains from being in the same block. Blocks are sections of track that only one train may every occupy to avoid collision. There's tons of explanations online so if you don't understand mine, just look up "roller coaster blocking" Ok, so first I'm going to explain blocking for those who don't understand it yet.
